Didn't get a chance to explore the bottom level, however this store is larger then it looks.
You can find some more local history and older specialty books in this store compared to rest of Whyte ave. The person working was friendly when I asked about a book.
The non fiction section is smaller then the other stores around. They are in some type of order. Not quite alphabetical but authors seemed to be grouped.
This store is one of the, if not the, best used bookstore in the city of Edmonton and surrounding areas. The store itself is a maze of amazing books around every twist and turn, there are two floors (the basement being much smaller but just as packed full with books. You can find all sorts of rare, interesting, and unique books in this store. I went in for a quick browse and I ended up spending over an hour just browsing before I even began thinking about narrowing down my choices to buy something! I ended up walking out with a book, and as I was checking out I got to chatting with the store worker. According to him, within the store there are over 90,000 books! I believe it but my gosh you could be in this store all day and never read the same title twice. Definitely a great place to check out if you are looking for your next "new to you" book! This store is an amazing addition to the city of Edmonton, and I hope it remains one for years to come.
My wife and I came in today for her birthday and the gentleman who was on staff was phenomenal. I didn't catch his name but he had a British accent and was not only extremely knowledgeable but also a fantastic conversationalist. The service went beyond the transactional and became an experience. Fantastic time and will be back again. Highly recommend.
Soooo much goodies here. A lot of Canadian specific sections and tons 9f weird ephemera from Canada. Lots of fun to spend an hour or two sifting. One of the better used bookstores in Alberta.

Absolutely fantastic book store!! Huge selection of every genre and the people working there are amazing and hilarious. The history and science sections are my favorite and they have one the largest selections I have seen for a used bookstore. I believe the gentleman said over 90,000 books in store.
TL;DR If you want good value second hand books, they have it; if you want rare collectables, they have it; if you just wanna browse, you're welcome here; if you just wanna talk books, they'll love it.
I love this place. The atmosohere screams book lovers. The staff are all super informative and welcoming. My first visit I had an awesome hour long chat with a gentleman about WW1 poetry. He was super knowledgable, and just wanted to chat!
They have two floors crammed full of books.
I was looking for a historic book, so I checked their website and confirmed that they had a copy. I live close enough that I just drove in and asked the person at the counter. They walked right to the book and handed it to me. I was overjoyed! What incredible service. We’re so lucky to have this bookstore in Edmonton!
